The One and Only Print Shop

As a professional and cynical CGU whiner for almost three years, I'd like to talk about a serious problem of long waiting lines here.

Life sucks, I know.

But just like Angela said in Matchstick Men, "If you're gonna get wet, might as well go swimming." If you're not thinking about transferring to another school (which I did but sadly the other way around) then why not try some useful tips I'm gonna show you? We will start with the print shop today and leave the other two for the future. Let's get started!

So, before we jump right in, I want to share my experience with the prepaid card, which is exclusive to this store. You simply go to the counter and purchase one. Why do I recommend buying it? Three words: easier, cheaper and faster. First, it saves you a lot of trouble from bringing change. Second, you get a discount when you use the card. Even if you only save 20 cents, a penny and penny laid up will be many. Lastly, shorter queuing lines. Like a dream come true in CGU.

ê This is the outside of the print shop. As you can see, there're two colors of arrows showing different directions. And yes, normally it would be a lot more crowded.

ê Inside, there're two areas for customers -- one for cash and the other for card users.

ê For color printing, you need to tell the employees in advance. Pay first and you get the paper. Put the paper into the upper right drawer I mark with the pink arrow in the picture below.

ê They also have a copier machine for black and white. Self-serviced.

ê Binding service is available.

ê This is the form you get from the counter specifying how you would like your binding.

ê You can make posters and business cards here, too. The print shop will serve as a bridge connecting you and another manufacturing store. This makes things a lot easier since there's no need to take a school bus off campus. You pay here and pick up your work here.

ê Boxes of printing paper are also available.

ê You can also make copies and do printings at CGU Library. Both services are NT$1/page. There is only one printer available on the first floor but few people know about this place.

Notice:

1. The computer here doesn't have the Internet. That is, USB only.
2. Don't try to fix it yourself if the paper jams or some other unfortunate thing happens. Please contact the librarian.
3. Only A4 size is available.
4. CGU just can't do 100%. So much for a "top five" university in Taiwan. (Ok I made this up.)

ê  You can find a scanner somewhere near the copy room as well.

Don't forget to sign in when using this computer. To be honest, I actually don't know why we do this. And you can tell that I didn't take it really seriously... the signature on the first row is mine...(艸)

BTW, the shopkeeper's birthday is actually on June 10th, if I recall it right. Show her some love next year for me, will ya? Better friends than enemies. Chang Gung already leaves something to be desired. What's the point of making it worse?

  1. Nice info. But I disagree with last 2 sentences. In my point of view, it's completely subjective. It depends on who think CGU is "shitty place" or "heaven". As for me, this place is not best, nor bad. Rather than the school itself, I think people inside CGU that make it worst. Let say local students, international students, or even staff, anyone can do make it worst.

To the writer, if you consider this article represent International club (SOCICE) please put aside your personal opinion. Avoid using harsh words, especially when you mention CGU as shitty place. For the reader, it seems like all international students (or at least people in SOCICE) think like that.

Maybe writer want this article easy to read and sound cliche, but it will omit the value of this article. Please consider if you want to continue wiritng in the name of SOCICE. Wish you good articles again next time.

    Cheers!

    1. Thank you so much for the advice!
You do remind me that this is a site of SocICE rather than my personal blog. I will make sure to arrange another word to express my thoughts and be more careful with it next time.

Definitely more posts to come! Cannot wait to hear more from you guys!
